Unexpectedly in 2006 we received a legacy to benefit the music for mandolin and guitar. This legacy was assigned to us from our beloved friend Chris Molster, who passed away far too young. Chris was always full of the joys of life, a loving Friend. A lover of the arts, who had followed our career from the very beginning. Whenever there was a concert, Chris was always at our side. We decided to start with this project together with an enthusiastic group of musicians. We have based the project around the works of Erik 't Hart, a modern Dutch composer well known in the Dutch mandolin world. The project explores new classical music for the mandolin and guitar. We would like to thank Prof. Marga Wilden-Hüsgen for her kindness in taking the artistic supervision on her shoulders. To the honour of Chris the project is called: "Het Molsterproject". We are sure Chris would have enjoyed the project!
Erik 't Hart (1964) sent us eight pieces for the Molsterproject. Every piece has a different colour and tone. The element that links them together is the use of the mandolin and the guitar as the main instruments. There are such compositions for plucked string orchestra, duo's, trio's and quartets. Sometimes the sound of the mandolin and guitar are expended with the sound of the clarinet, flute or human voice. The pieces are written in a slightly modern musical language. Erik 't Hart mainly composes in a sensitive and intuitive way, sometimes using exotic elements.
2008 we recorded eight selected pieces by Erik 't Hart. This CD is called "KOKORO", which is Japanese for heart (= Dutch “hart"). Besides the cd we published the musicscore
Restless Souls a composition for clarinet and plucked string orchestra. More music by Erik 't Hart is published at
Grenzland-Verlag by Theo Hüsgen. For further information on the CD
KOKORO, please visit our CD-page.
