Michiel Wiesenekker
Michiel was born in Amsterdam; he started to play the guitar with nine years old. 2001, after the release of the duos first cd “Wouldn’t Listen”, Michiel followed his sister to study classical guitar with Professor Dieter Kreidler at the Conservatory of Music in Wuppertal. 2008, he completed his master study at the Robert Schumann Conservatory of music in Düsseldorf with Professor Alexander Sergei Ramirez. 2009, Michiel is teaching at the Coservatory in Düsseldorf, he gives classes on the "the guitar in different popular music styles"
Michiel plays a classical guitar made by Boguslaw Teryks, a steel string guitar by Martin, a Epiphone Broadway and a baroque guitar by Frank-Peter Dietrich. During his study in Wuppertal he learned general bass. Sometimes Michiel also likes to pick up the baroque mandolin of sister Marijke.
As part of the “Amsterdams gitaar en Mandoline Duo” he gives concerts and workshops in Germany and the Netherlands. He lives in Wuppertal (Germany) and works at several music schools as a guitar teacher. Guitarists that inspire Michiel because of their warm and distinctive playing are Leo Brouwer, Laurindo Almeida, Merle Travis, Blind Blake en David Fiuczynski.
